• Must be a United States citizen at the commencement of her Local Competition and must remain such throughout her participation within the State Competition and, if selected as the State Representative, the National Competition.
• At least 18 years of age by July 31, 2024 • No more than 25 years old on December 31, 2024 • High school graduate or equivalent on the first day of the State Competition for 2022 • Female, never married, never have had children, and be of good moral character • Legal resident of California for at least six (6) months prior to local competition • Must live, work or attend school within Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado, or Placer County. • Each Candidate is responsible for raising $300 for competition sponsorship

AREAS OF COMPETITION: |
• Private Interview (25% of total score)
Each candidate participates in an individual 10-minute press conference style interview with the panel of judges. Candidates are questioned on their background as presented on their resume, their educational and career goals, their opinions on current events and social issues and their interests, hobbies and extracurricular activities. Scoring is based on overall communication skills, including personality, intelligence, validated opinions, emotional control, overall first impression and personal appearance. • Talent (40% of total score) Candidates perform a 90-second routine of their own choosing. Some possible talents include all types of singing, dancing, gymnastics, instrumental music, dramatic or comedic monologues, baton twirling and ventriloquism. Scoring is based on candidates skill and personality, interpretive ability, technical skill level, stage presence and the totality of all elements, including costume, props, voice, use of body and choreography. • On-stage Interview (15% of total score) The On-Stage Interview phase of competition advances the same criteria as the personal interview by bringing it on stage in an interactive and substantive highly energetic way to showcase each candidates’ intelligence, personality, charisma and aptitude for the job. Questions will be of a general nature and will not be taken directly from the private interview. The objective is to evaluate the candidate's ability to think on her feet and answer a question of general interest to people her age, including, but not limited to, local, state and national current events. Scoring is based on overall first impression, sense of confidence, personality, stage presence, extemporaneous response to an on-stage question, candidate's ability to answer the question in the context in which it was asked, and her ability to handle the pressure of speaking on stage in front of an audience. • Evening Wear/Social Impact Initiative (20% of total score) Each candidate appears on stage in an outfit of her own choosing which should reflect "Red Carpet" glamour. Scoring is based on overall first impression, sense of confidence, personality, stage presence, walk and posture, appropriateness of attire, confidence, and sense of attractiveness. |
Miss Sacramento's Outstanding teen

• Must be a United States citizen at the commencement of her Local Competition and must remain such throughout her participation within the State Competition and, if selected as the State Representative, the National Competition.
• Must be 13 years of age on the first day of the Miss California's Outstanding Teen Competition in 2022 • Must not be older than 17 years of age as of July 31, 2022 • Resident of California for at least six (6) months prior to local competition • Must be never have had children, and must be of good moral character • Must live, work or attend school within Sacramento County, Yolo County, El Dorado County or Placer County. • Each Teen Candidate has an entry fee of $300 |

At the local level, each candidate participates in an individual 7-minute press conference style interview with the panel of judges. Candidates are questioned on their background as presented on their resume, their educational and career goals, interests, hobbies and extracurricular activities. Scoring is based on overall communication skills, including personality, intelligence, validated opinions, emotional control, overall first impression and personal appearance. • Talent (35% of total score) Candidates perform a 90-second routine of their own choosing. Some possible talents include all types of singing, dancing, gymnastics, instrumental music, dramatic or comedic monologues, and more. Scoring is based on candidate's skill and personality, interpretive ability, technical skill level, stage presence and the totality of all elements, including costume, props, voice, use of body and choreography. • Lifestyle & Fitness (15% of total score) Each candidate appears briefly on stage (up to 30 seconds) in workout attire. Workout attire must be age appropriate, and typical of what a teenager would wear to workout at a gym. An example of workout attire includes shorts (above the knee) with a sleeveless top or half top with tennis shoes. Swimsuits and clothing specifically for dance such as a leotard are not permitted. Scoring is based on overall first impression, statement of strong physical fitness and health, sense of attractiveness and presence, display of energy, charisma and expression, sense of confidence and composure. • On-Stage Question in Evening Wear (25% of total score) Each candidate appears on stage in evening wear of her own choosing; something appropriate for her age. Each candidate will answer a question on-stage. Questions will be of a general nature and will not be taken directly from the private interview. The objective is to evaluate the candidate's ability to think on her feet and answer a question of general interest to people her age, including, but not limited to, local, state and national current events. Scoring is based on overall first impression, sense of confidence, personality, stage presence, walk and posture, appropriateness of attire, and her ability to handle the pressure of speaking on stage in front of an audience. |
